What Happens in Alabama, Stays in Alabama.
Any hemp products sold in Alabama must be produced within the state. The new legislation explicitly prohibits online sales of hemp from other states, as well as direct delivery, drive-through sales, and direct shipment of consumable hemp products into or within Alabama. Consumers can only access hemp in person at licensed retail locations authorized by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. Additionally, a certificate of analysis (COA) is required for each product sold at retail to ensure compliance and safety.

What forms of hemp are allowed in Alabama?
Alabama permits the use of hemp-based products in the form of edibles, beverages, or topical applications intended for skin or hair. Edibles and beverages are limited to a maximum of 10 mg of total THC per serving, while topicals and other consumable products must contain no more than 40 mg of total THC per container. The sale of inhalable or smoked hemp products, as well as any hemp products containing synthetic cannabinoids, is prohibited within the state.

The label of hemp products are required to have:
- A list of ingredients
- Serving size
- Manufacture and expiration date
- Total THC amount in milligrams per container
- Total THC amount in milligrams per serving
- Batch number that corresponds to a COA
